HP’s Aurelio Maruggi will hand the baton to Craig Bernero at end of 2026

HP’s Division President of HP Office Print Solutions, Aurelio Maruggi, has announced his retirement. Maruggi has commented on social media:

“After four incredible decades in the printing industry, I am both excited and deeply humbled to announce that I will be retiring at the end of 2026. My journey began as an engineer at Olivetti, stepping into a sector many believed the “paperless office” would soon make obsolete. That prediction couldn’t have been more wrong. Instead, I’ve had the privilege of watching — and helping shape — an industry that has thrived, empowering businesses and people worldwide to create and communicate more effectively than ever.”

Maruggi continues:

“From leading the development of the first European inkjet printer in 1988 to guiding the iconic HP LaserJet Business in the last two years, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to many of the breakthrough technologies, products, and business models that have defined consumer, office, and industrial printing. I’m deeply grateful to Olivetti and HP for the opportunities that made this possible.”

Maruggi points to two highlights that stood out during his career:

  • Building the Industrial PageWide Web Press business from a blank sheet of paper, stating, “What started as a bold vision became a powerful portfolio of products and solutions that drove major transformations across publishing, marketing communications, and packaging. Being part of redefining how these industries operate was an extraordinary privilege.”
  • Serving four years as CEO of Apogee in the UK, stating, “Leading a team delivering managed print, document workflow, and IT services to more than 10,000 customers across Europe was incredibly rewarding. Providing what I often called “peace of mind” to organizations that relied on us remains one of the most humbling experiences of my career.”

Maruggi remains fully committed through the end of 2026, ensuring a smooth transition and advancing key strategic initiatives. Afterward, he will step into retirement , and he is especially pleased to leave the Office Print Solutions business in the highly capable hands of Craig Bernero.
