New ScanSnap Go enables Personalised Scanning with a Smartphone

The ScanSnap iX2500 scanner has an update that enables end users to scan by holding their smartphone close to the scanner.

PFU Limited has recently released the update for the flagship model of its ScanSnap series of image scanners, the ScanSnap iX2500, which digitises documents quickly with one touch.

This update introduces the ScanSnap Go feature, which is available in the latest firmware update of ScanSnap Home for Mobile, making it ideal for users based in shared offices, hot-desking environments and other flexible workspaces.

Simply Scan Simply

With a tap, the end user’s customised scan profile settings appear on the scanner’s touchscreen (including their usual destinations they are set up to scan to), allowing any iX2500 to function as a personal scanner.

This allows users to quickly and easily use iX2500 units across different locations, on another floor or a shared office. In addition, ScanSnap Go makes it easier to share the scanner among family members, or for mobile professionals, such as scanning documents at trade shows.

Download/update method

To use new features on the ScanSnap iX2500, end users or MSPs on behalf of clients, will need to update the firmware via ScanSnap Home, which can be found here.

Alternatively ScanSnap Home (for mobile) can be found in the Apple or Google app store.

If the user already uses an iX2500, ScanSnap Go will temporarily connect their smartphone to the iX2500 when brought close to the device. The same settings that the end user usually uses will appear on the scanner touch panel. Once disconnected, user information is cleared from the iX2500 unit itself, ensuring security.
