Kyocera Document Solutions UK recognised by ESG Benchmark Group

Kyocera Document Solutions UK was recently recognised for the transparency and maturity of its modern business practices including modern slavery, diversity and inclusion, gender pay gap, and social value initiatives following a successful audit by the ESG Benchmark Group.

ESG Benchmark operates an ESG standard and benchmarking process validated by the Green Futures team at the University of Exeter. The benchmark is founded on the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, to which both companies are signatories, relevant UK legislation and globally recognised best practice.

Environmental Social Governance (ESG) assessments encapsulate some of the core elements needed to run a successful business, encouraging positive people management, best practice, good governances and policies, with respect for the natural environment.

Matthew Hayman, Head of Governance & Standards at Kyocera Document Solutions UK, has said that the ESG Certification marks the start of the company’s work with ESG Benchmark Group, commenting:

“Our key focus is demonstrating the maturity of our CSR initiatives as positive and measurable impacts to help end-customers make informed decisions during the procurement process. It’s all about ‘responsible coexistence with society, the global community, and the natural environment’; here the Kyocera philosophy guides us to act with integrity and support sustainable progress, and this is strongly instilled in our company culture. Many of our customers, especially in the public sector, already ask to us to evidence their credentials in terms of sustainability and social value based on the products and services we provide throughout their contract.”

The ESG assessment is divided into three sections:

Environmental: gives valuable insight into how deeply the organisation is embedding environmental responsibility into its operations and long-term strategy.

Social: evaluates organisational efforts to foster a positive, inclusive and equitable workplace, while also considering broader social responsibility issues.

Governance: provides a comprehensive assessment of governance practices, ensuring key elements such as transparency, ethical leadership, risk management and stakeholder engagement are captured.

Iain Fairbairn, ESG Benchmark Group has observed:

“We are pleased Kyocera have undertaken the ESG Benchmark Assessment, scoring very well in each key area of Environmental, Social and Governance. Their Certification was awarded after our team assessed their evidence and conducted team interviews which supported our findings that Kyocera are fully committed to operating responsibly and sustainably.”
