Honeywell Technologies has completed the sale of its Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) business to Brady Corporation in an all-cash transaction, widely reported to be US$1.4 billion.
“Closing the PSS divestiture is the final step toward completing our transition to a pure-play automation company,” said Vimal Kapur, chairman and CEO of Honeywell Technologies. “As Honeywell Technologies, we are fully focused on the building, industrial and process sectors and the long-term growth opportunities leading the industry’s transition from automation to autonomy.”
This divestiture follows the completed sale of the company’s Warehouse and Workflow Solutions business last month and the divestiture of its Personal Protective Equipment business in 2025.
The sale covers Honeywell’s entire Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) business, which sits within its Industrial Automation portfolio. Brady is acquiring a substantial portfolio of products, software and services rather than a single product line. The acquisition is intended to create a larger industrial technology business combining Brady’s identification expertise with Honeywell’s mobile computing and workflow automation capabilities.
The main businesses moving to Brady include:
- Mobile, Wearable and Handheld Mobile Computers
- Vehicle-mounted computers
- Barcode Scanning, including 1D and 2D barcode scanners
- Industrial, Retail and Warehouse scanners
- RFID Readers and RFID Solutions and Infrastructure
- Asset tracking solutions
- Voice-Directed Solutions
- Warehouse productivity, Workflow, Device Management and Mobility software
- Warehouse execution tools
- Mobile receipt and label printers
- Industrial printing systems
- Device lifecycle services
Brands included in the Sale
The acquisition included several Honeywell brands used throughout retail, logistics, warehousing and field mobility, including:
- Honeywell
- Intermec – Handheld mobile computers, barcode scanners, RFID readers, vehicle-mounted computers, label printers
- Datamax-O’Neil – Industrial label printers, desktop label printers, mobile receipt and label printers
- LXE – Rugged vehicle-mounted computers, handheld terminals, warehouse mobile computers
- Vocollect – Voice-directed picking headsets, wearable voice computers, warehouse voice software
The divestiture is part of Honeywell’s strategy to become a “pure-play automation company” following its corporate restructuring.
What is a Pure-Play Automation Company?
A pure-play automation company is a business that focuses almost entirely on automation technologies, rather than operating across many unrelated industries. The term “pure-play” means a company is dedicated to one sector or market, making it easier for investors and customers to understand its strategy and performance.
By selling businesses such as Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) and separating some other divisions, Honeywell is reshaping itself into a company focused primarily on automation.
Brady Benefits
For Brady, the acquisition significantly expands its portfolio beyond identification and safety products. Brady says the combination creates a broader industrial technology platform by adding leadership in mobile computing, barcode scanning, RFID, Workflow software and Enterprise mobility.
This gives Brady a much stronger presence in warehousing, logistics, retail, manufacturing and field service, while complementing its existing strengths in labels, signs, printers and safety solutions.
Yesterday, Brady’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Vineet Nargolwala, commented:
“Today marks the beginning of the next chapter for Brady as a leading industrial technology company, with enhanced capabilities and greater market access. The combination of Brady and PSS’s portfolios creates an industrial technology leader with capabilities across identification, safety, connectivity, and intelligent workflow solutions. Brady now serves customers in nearly every end market, with an expanded portfolio designed to help customers improve productivity, safety and operational performance.”
Mr. Nargolwala continued, “While this transaction significantly expands Brady’s scale and capabilities, our approach and objectives remain the same: producing trusted products and services, consistent operational execution, disciplined capital allocation, and creating significant value for our teams, customers and shareholders. We welcome the over 3,000 members of the PSS team to Brady and together, we will build the next chapter of Brady.”
