Pilot to bring a new generation of Android-based payment devices to the German market
Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a global provider of payment terminals and technology solutions, is supporting the live pilot of myPOS Flexi in Germany, a new payment device from myPOS. The device enables merchants to accept girocard payments through a modern Android-based platform designed for local market requirements.
The launch brings together Newland NPT’s Android terminal technology with the local payment infrastructure of LAVEGO AG, which became part of myPOS in 2025. As a girocard network operator and regulated payment institution, LAVEGO provides the processing expertise and market knowledge required to support the rollout in Germany, while myPOS contributes its extensive merchants network and distribution capabilities.
girocard is Germany’s leading debit card system, with around 8.3 billion transactions in 2025, up 4.8% from 7.9 billion in 2024, and transaction value reaching approximately €308 billion. For merchants, girocard offers low transaction fees, payment guarantees, and reliable local infrastructure, making it an essential payment method in the German market.
The rollout follows girocard certification for Newland NPT’s N950 and N750 terminals, with myPOS Flexi bringing this certified technology into live market deployment. Additional girocard-enabled Newland NPT devices are expected to follow in the near future.
The Solution in the Pilot
The solution uses LAVEGO’s nexoFAST payment application, developed in line with the international nexo standards, helping align terminal-side payment acceptance with LAVEGO’s processing infrastructure. Newland NPT’s terminal operational management system (TOMS) provides the operational layer, enabling updates and new applications to be deployed across the terminal estate. Hosted in LAVEGO’s data centres in Germany, TOMS supports centralised terminal management while meeting strict GDPR and local data protection requirements.
Florian Gohlke, CEO of LAVEGO AG, commented:
“German merchants need payment technology that combines girocard acceptance with local processing requirements and reliable terminal management. With myPOS Flexi now live, we are bringing those elements together by combining LAVEGO’s processing expertise, myPOS’s merchant reach, and Newland NPT’s Android-based technology in one solution – with further devices and capabilities to follow.”
Alan Moss, Managing Director, Europe at Newland NPT, added:
“Germany is a key market for us, and the rollout of myPOS Flexi demonstrates how our Android payment technology can support one of Europe’s most distinctive local payment environments. This is an important first step, and we look forward to expanding our girocard-enabled device portfolio in the German market.”
