Quocirca: Channel Partners are Missing Scanning Revenue Opportunity

Recent Quocirca research begs the question, “Is scanning is becoming one of the biggest untapped growth opportunities in managed print services?”

Quocirca points out that as organisations accelerate digitisation, paper-to-digital workflows and AI-readiness, scanning is no longer just a supporting feature of MPS (managed print services). It is becoming a strategic entry point into higher-value document workflows, automation and information management.

Quocirca research shows that 68% of organisations are extremely or very interested in cost-per-scan billing models, yet only 37% channel partners currently monetise scanning. At the same time, scan volumes are rising, with 71% of organisations expecting scanning activity to increase over the coming year. This creates a significant opportunity for MPS providers to move beyond traditional cost-per-page models and reposition scanning as a measurable, value-based service.

Louella Fernandes, CEO of Quocirca, points out that MPS leaders will be those that can:

➡️ Elevate scanning from a free feature to a strategic commercial pillar
➡️ Build pricing around workflow value, not just device activity
➡️ Support customers’ digitisation, compliance and AI-readiness goals
➡️ Create clear, scalable cost-per-scan propositions

Quocirca’s new report, Scanning for growth: Market readiness for cost-per-scan MPS models, explores customer appetite, market readiness and the commercial implications for MPS providers. It is based on MPS users across four regions and examines both the level of market readiness for cost-per-scan billing models and the strategic implications for MPS providers offering them.
