Canon Launches New Compact imageFORMULA DR-C360

Canon has launched the imageFORMULA DR-C360, a compact scanner designed specifically for corporate and government organisations, as well as regulated sectors such as banking, finance, healthcare and legal to maximise productivity.

Scanning is an integral part of everyday business functions for organisations in many sectors, especially those that require many documents to be scanned before being digitised throughout the day.

For these businesses, speed and ease of use are priorities – but without compromising on the quality of scans – to ensure productivity is maximised.

Canon has been in this sector for some time with its imageFORMULA DR-C300 Series of compact desktop document scanners, which was introduced last year. Now, the manufacturer has added a third scanner to its range, the imageFORMULA DR-C360, which joins the DR-C340 and DR-C350, and this brings enhanced productivity to support business environments that require faster document processing and higher-volume digitisation.

Intuitive, space-saving design

Through its ultra-compact and narrow design, the imageFORMULA DR-C360 features one of the smallest footprints on the market in its category at just 283mm wide. This makes the scanner ideal for use in environments where there is limited space, such as branch and remote offices, customer engagement points, reception areas and shared business environments.

It also offers new, enhanced usability features, such as a larger display panel and physical buttons, which support easier operation, while setup is also simple thanks to the included USB Type-C connectivity.

The scanner also comes equipped with Canon’s powerful CaptureOnTouch Pro software, which enables users to quickly digitise paper documents – it also allows for files to be imported and then converted into various file formats using intelligent technologies such as OCR and barcode recognition.

Fast and flexible media scanning

Capable of scanning at speeds of up to 120 images per minute and equipped with a large 100-sheet automatic document feeder, the imageFORMULA DR-C360 enables users to digitise higher volumes of documents efficiently, with minimal user intervention. The DR-C360 is also the fastest scanner in the DR-C300 series with speeds of 60 pages per minute.

Media flexibility is also enhanced as the device can scan several document types including passports directly, without the need for a protective carrier sheet. These features make the imageFORMULA DR-C360 especially suitable for sectors such as government, financial services, insurance, legal services, and rental and leasing businesses, where customer identification documents need to be captured quickly and accurately.

Superior image quality

But while the imageFORMULA DR-C360 delivers speedy document processing, it isn’t at the expense of scan quality.

As with the other devices in the range, the imageFORMULA DR-C360 provides superior image quality, supported by advanced image processing tools including Active Threshold, Fill Background, Colour Emphasis, and Document with Photo Mode, which helps to deliver consistently high-quality scans, improved image clarity and reduces the need for rescanning.

Sustainability benefits and lower TCO

Canon has also been mindful that customers are increasingly looking for enhanced sustainability in their devices, as well as lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

The scanner can support organisations towards both aims, such as by reducing their TCO (total cost of ownership) through energy-efficient operation, consuming less power during scanning than other comparable models.

Sustainability has been considered during the device design, for example, it features a redesigned roller replacement kit which uses fewer materials and generates less waste than previous versions, while packaging is also made from reusable and biodegradable materials to help reduce plastic consumption.
